Together with Jesus - Parents and Twos

This unique Sunday School class is for parents and their 2-year-olds. We meet from 9:15-10:15 in Room 2 of the Education Wing.

Parents are often amazed at what their child can learn about God our Creator, Provider, and Savior at this age.   Developmentally most two-year-olds can do only one thing at a time. They often spend much of the class time observing.  The rest of the week parents see and hear them retell the lesson and worship God through their word, song, and actions.

*  Exploring Together - A time for children to explore and experience God's wonderful world with various materials. Parents work with their children to encourage and help them.

*  Worship Time - Everyone joins in learning songs and finger plays, prayers,  and short Bible stories.  Morris the Mouse is always there to help.
*  Project Time - Parents and children create a take-home project based on the theme for the day.
*  Snack Time and Parenting Time - Children enjoy snacks while parents have a brief discussion of parenting a two-year-old.  Topics include faith development and spiritual nurturing of two-year-olds; the home as a mission center; children in worship; the social development of two-year-olds; etc.
*  Praising God Together - A closing devotion

*  Saying Good-bye with a prayer and hugs
 

Many children are ready for this class about 18 months. You are encouraged to bring your child to see how it goes and wait if you feel it's too soon. Some readiness cues are interest in those activities mentioned above and an ability to follow simple directions with parents' help.  Walking out for a few minutes to calm down is very routine. 

Moving on to to the 3-year-old class is also somewhat flexible if the child is not quite ready for Sunday school without you.
